Yunnan - An exciting ongoing program on the improvement of Northern Laos 230-kilovolt Power Grid Project - entitled the Ban Boun Tai 230-kilovolt Switching Station Expansion Program and contracted by the China Southern Power Grid Yunnan International Co., Ltd., was officially launched and is slated for completion by December 15 of this year.
The re-operation of the project is expected to meet the electricity demands of more than 200,000 residents (as well as commercial and leisure businesses) in the Phongsaly Province of Laos and better support the local economic and social expansion.
The Ban Boun Tai 230-kilovolt Switching Station is located in Ban Boun Tai, Phongsaly Province, Laos (and accompanying projects) was one of 230-kilovolt power grid projects in Northern Laos.
The project, spanning four provinces in Northern Laos, was contracted by the Yunnan International Company and placed into operation in Year 2015.
Current improvement plans call for the installation of a 230/115/22 kilovolt main transformer at the 230-kilovolt switching station and other expansion work.
The continuing economic and social development of Laos is putting increasing pressure on the available power supplies.
After the main transformer is built, the 230-kilovolt switching station will be able to transmit to Boun Neua and Phongsali part of power generated by power stations at 5th or 6th grade in the Nam Ou River, through electricity transmission lines between Boun Neua transformer substation and the 115-kilovolt Ban Boun Tai Switching Station built by ?lectricité du Laos which is expected to alleviate power supply demands in the regional area.
